I know that being a writer can be hazardous to your health. Writers are infamous drinkers and smokers. Aren’t you one? Not yet you say? Don't you write?! Okay, well maybe your willpower is strong enough to stay away from fun-filled carcinogens, but you are still addicted to writing and that in itself can be bad for you.
I recently read an article that stated that sitting for long periods of time is detrimental to your health because the human body is not meant to do so. The heck?! Tell that to my boss! Few of us have day jobs where we stand for most of the day. The rest of us sit for eight hours at work, come home, and do what? Do what? Sit for more hours to write of course.
This so called article even claimed that a study had been done that showed that sitting for long periods of time can cause you to gain weight due to decreasing your metabolism, which I believe more than how it was saying that long periods of sitting can shorten your life span. Then again obesity can kill you. So… Anyway, what are your thoughts on this?
Now that you are aware that sitting on your rear all day can hurt you, will you change how you write? I have taken to standing more at my day job and during my writing time. Heck, I am standing right now. I have to admit that it is uncomfortable to stand more than you are used to, but improved blood circulation, alleviated back pain and a healthy metabolism are some of my motivators.
As you can tell I am a health nut. I have written a previous blog post about how to build your writing stamina. The secret of course is being healthy.

Stay healthy and write well!
